100% on a psychology essay
I'd feel damn good if it wasn't an entry level class. (I just feel regular-good instead.)
Two papers down, four to go. Now I sleep.

On the various benefits of kitty litter
Let us be like Dutch uncles. I do not fill my cat’s crappin’ box with sand. I buy the good stuff. I’m talking Arm & Hammer brand Stench Soaker Crystals for Multiple Sick Cats.
And yet, when come I home, I find that my cat either craps sixty times a day, or else invites her friends over. Or maybe she has a friend cougar. Something comes along, at any rate—perhaps some sort of cat litter fairy--and transforms the waves of smooth textured litter into a minefield of foul smelling clumps.
And it is the merits of these clumps that I wish to extol.
In olden days, see, I might have been forced to find some lesser projectile with which to assault the neighborhood dogs. Old apples or acorns, perhaps. But certainly not the Lovecraftian fecal matter, forged in the hell-bowel of the blackest cat, with which I am now provided. (She has a white patch on her tummy. We don’t discuss it.)
I swear on my mother’s Chihuahua’s grave, these clumps can kill a four pound dog. Maybe it’s their weight. Maybe it’s jagged shape. Most likely, it’s the solid tendrils of odor that actively seek mortal throats to strangle.
I used to have trouble with the local wildlife digging through my trash. No more. A clump in each barrel, and I find dead animals all over the driveway, every morning. And once a week, a garbage man crawls to my doorstep and manages a final, “Why?” before choking on his last breath and falling dead upon my bunny slippers.
Maybe I’m exaggerating.
But then, maybe I’m not. So keep your damn dog out of my yard.

New Job Tutoring
And that’s all we have in common. Every single tutor there takes a completely different approach to tutoring (and to writing in general.) They were, at one point, listing off activities they do when writing. I was gazing into an alien universe. None of them write how I write; none of them even start writing the way I write. And to avoid being ego-centric, I’ll go on a limb and say that none of them write like each other.
This job has really opened my eyes. We’re all different and we’re all allowed to be different. It’s refreshing.
I taught an Ethiopian man (who is just beginning to study English) a mnemonic for spelling Christian, and I’m exceptionally proud to have thought of it. I told him to always start with C-H-R-I-S-T and then add an I-A-N, because Christ is in every Christian. It makes a bit more sense out loud, I think.

Done! BUAHAHAHAH!
The final incarnation of this story is about 6000 words long.
I'm so glad to have it finally finished. I started writing it shortly after my best friend, Shweta, shared a song with me called "The Bonny Swans." This is the last thing of mine that my father ever got to help me with, and I wish he was here to finally read the ending.
Curious parties can read it via email, if they ask me really nicely.

Six Blind Men
The poem is by John Godfrey Saxe, and reads thus:
There were six men of Hindustan,
to learning much inclined,
Who went to see an elephant,
though all of them were blind,
That each by observation
might satisfy his mind.
The first approached the elephant,
and happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
at once began to bawl,
"This mystery of an elephant
is very like a wall."
The second, feeling of the tusk,
cried, "Ho, what have we here,
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me 'tis mighty clear,
This wonder of an elephant
is very like a spear."
The third approached the elephant,
and happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
thus boldly up and spake,
"I see," quoth he,
"the elephant is very like a snake."
The fourth reached out an eager hand,
and felt above the knee,
"What this most wondrous beast
is like is very plain" said he,
"'Tis clear enough the elephant
is very like a tree."
The fifth who chanced to touch the ear
said, "E'en the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
deny the fact who can;
This marvel of an elephant
is very like a fan."
The sixth no sooner had begun
about the beast to grope,
Than seizing on the swinging tail
that fell within his scope;
"I see," said he, "the elephant
is very like a rope."
So six blind men of Hindustan
disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
exceeding stiff and strong;
Though each was partly in the right,
they all were in the wrong!
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean,
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen!

Mmm.
Teddy is still bitching about me on his blog. He's so cute! It'd be a damn shame if he found something to bitch about a little closer to home. So much bad shit happens in Isreal that it makes me wonder why he doesn't spend any time on that. I mean, if I kept a blog, and I had to choose between writing about some twerp that annoyed me, and the angry people with bombs that wanted to kill me, I think I'd go with the immediate threat, and perhaps give the twerp some sort of dishonorable mention.
Oh well. A long as Teddy-poo is going to harp, I'll humor him.
In far more important news, I've met an awesome girl. Her name is Angela and she's amazing. She plays the pennywhistle, likes books, and has an amazing sense of humor. We've been going out for a few weeks, and she hasn't brought up any of those awkward things the last few girls I've dated have. And she's not a member of any white supremacist groups, unlike the last one. Madre de Dios, what a nightmare that was.
Anyway, we're going steady now and I'm actually OK with it. I don't miss dating Anna, which surprises me. If I can only figure out how to not flirt with everyone.
Oh.
And I've actually been writing between my hellish load of schoolwork. Gasp! I started a new novel which, for now, I am calling S-S.
I'll come up for air again after finals.

I'm back.
Aside from having an amount of homework I can swim through, I also had to bury my father. Well, cremate him. In any case, he's dead and I'm trying to deal with it the best way I can.
Some bozo wrote this huge blog entry about my signature over on absolute write, which contains a swastika. It is not a hate symbol, nor does it signify anything else malignant. It's a symbol of good fortune, something I really need right now. I've always been a blunt person; if I don't like someone, they hear about it. Just ask Dclary, who has been a victim of my temper more than once.
Mac and the other owners, bless their hearts, stood up for me--god knows I'm no good at internet arguements. Generally I ignore internet spawned attention whores like that, but this is the second or third post this guy has made, specifically about me. It's so cute. He always puts my name in quote marks, as if I'm actually named Jed and just prefer Bartholomew. I love people who fiegn intellect. If I had any desire to be anonymous, I'd use the computers on campus under my other accounts.
Speaking of good fortune, my mother won $350 on a slot machine tonight. I think that's the first time she's ever left a casino with more money than she came in. Go mom!
I, however, spent the evening with my new roommate, Tressie, and my friend Alberto. We attacked a DDR machine with gusto and then bowled beneath AMF blacklights while horrible rap played in the background. Tressie doesn't speak Spanish and Alberto doesn't speak English, so I ended up translating all night. It was fun.
There appears to be some general confusion amongst my inner e-circle about how old I am. I've been called a teen five or six times on public venues. I wouldn't bother to correct anyone, since its almost true, but a certain bozo (who shall remain both nameless & linkless) is making me out to be some creepy 50 year old who sits around roleplaying a teen. I am 21, and will be 22 in November. For all the ladies out there, I am a Scorpio, and I like long walks on the beach. Erm, you know, the giant stretches of beach we have here in Balmy Kansas.
(20 inches of rain a few nights ago; there was flooding and, I believe, a few tornados. Gotta love Kansas.)
Spanish test on Tuesday. I only pulled an 83% on the last one, which is definately not up to snuff. I dropped one of my music classes. I needed the extra time for homework in the others, and I really wasn't clicking with the professor. Life is about 76% smoother now.

Augh!
I did have time this week for a few riproaring edits and a couple of games of Go.
Aside from that, practicing my woodwinds has been a bit of a priority, seeing as how they're such an awesome way to fill in 3 minutes of free time.

von Klick and the Date That Lived!
Anyway, yesterday was amazing. An ex-girlfriend of mine, Adele, went out with coffee for me. We sang together in the car--she's an opera singer and has an amazing voice--and then just sat in a café and talked. And talked. And talked. We spent a good four hours using up the building's O2 and engaging the occasional stranger in conversational acts of randomness. Bliss!
Then we hooked up again a bit later and had some Mexican food at an amazing little bistro down the street from my house. The Spanish language is beautiful, but no where near as enchanting as Adele's eyes.
If only time would trickle slow, like rain that melts the fallen snow...
I didn’t realize how much I missed this girl until I saw those eyes. They're wild and haunting, and they hide a chill sort of intellect.
"Here's looking at you, kid." Maybe I won't screw things up this time.
